ARTS & TECHNOLOGY LESSON 15

I personally feel that you all need some more work on the Z Merge tool so here is another lesson. No it's not winter yet, but it won't be long before it is. Take your time and if you have any questions be sure to ask.

ARTS & TECHNOLOGY LESSON 14

Wouldn't it be great if instead of 3-D round Path Drawing Objects lying on top one another, if they could actually melt into each other? Well they can by using a tool called Z Merge. Click on the link below for the tutorial.

TECHNOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOM WORKSHOP 3

Today we're going to continue working with Google Docs. I've already heard from some of you with favorable comments about this suite of free applications and like the idea of having a safe place to put your document, presentations and spreadsheets that can be accessed from any computer. Today we're going to do two things: 1) Create a folder to place your "test documents" in. This lesson can be found at:
2) Create your first form in Google Docs. Why a form? Once you learn to create Google Forms, you will be able to do surveys and tests for your students. This lesson can be found at:
HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT:
Create a five or more question test pertaining to your subject that you could possibly give to your students. You may use any type questions. When finished, upload it to your post and send me a link so that I can view it and mark it as completed.

ARTS & TECHNOLOGY LESSON 12

Today's lesson deals with the Path Drawing Tool, a tool that you have already used. Read over the lesson and look at the assignments at the bottom. You'll find five assignments. I only want you to do one - the very last one. Make 3-D creatures from the letters of your name. Click on the link below to go to Lesson 12.

HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT 2

Here is your homework assignment for September 21.

1) Create a Google doc and invite me to view it. (See today's lesson for details.)

2) Click on the link below in order to read the article entitled “Eight Ways to Use School Wikis”. A Google doc can also be used as a wiki by the way. Read the article and write a paragraph about any part of the article or your thoughts of the whole thing. Post this paragraph to your blog. Entitle it “Eight ways to use school wikis”.

http://www.techlearning.com/article/22064

3) As you noticed I included “Something New” in one of my posts. This is an awesome, free website audio software that can be found at http://www.audiopal.com/editor.html
Go to this site and type, record or phone in a message. Just play with it!!!! Try it out. I’ll demonstrate how to insert it into your blog next week or see if you can figure it out by yourself. I’ll give you a clue. When you create a post in your blog, you have the option of Compose or Edit HTML. Click on Edit HTML. This is where you will place your code that you receive in the email from AudioPal. Just try it!!!!!!!!! If it doesn’t work, just delete the post.

TECHNOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOM WORKSHOP 1

Welcome to the Technology in the Classroom Workshop for teachers and welcome to my blog. Since I use this particular blog for a number of things such as my international travel, student artwork and events and my Arts and Technology Class, I have an idea for letting you know which posts are for this workshop. I will include my avatar at the top of every blog pertaining to this class. For those of you that don't know, an avatar is a graphical image that represents a person. Just look above and you'll see Artman, me! When you see it, you'll immediately know this post is for you. But please take a look at all the other posts as well. I hope you enjoy this workshop and find it useful.

OBAMA'S STUDENT ADDRESS

My Arts & Technology class has been doing word clouds using Wordle.net. Guess what? I just found a word cloud of President Obama's student address online. It was created by Richard Byrne. I thought it might be interesting for my students to see it. If you haven't used Wordle.net yet, check it out. It's an awesome word cloud generator and it's FREE!

ARTS & TECHNOLOGY LESSON 5

This lesson is an extension of Lesson 4. You are going to create another logo today but using a new tool, the Lasso Tool. Be sure to read the lesson carefully. You have to find a picture of an object and cut it out using the Lasso Tool. This cutout pic will then become a very important part of your logo. You'll also learn how to create curved text. This must be included in your logo as well. Take your time. Choose photos that are sharp and not fuzzy or out of focus. Choose a background image from the Fill Gallery that won't clash with or detract from the logo itself. And of course, be creative!!!! You'll be graded on creativity, precision of cutting out your image, use of curved text and the harmony of all the components of your logo.

ARTS & TECHNOLOGY LESSON 4

If you didn't have time to complete yesterday's assignment, please finish it as quickly as possible so that you won't get behind. Now for today's lesson click on the URL below. In this lesson you will be using what you learned in yesterday's tutorial - working with type. But today we'll be taking it one step further. You'll be designing business logos in which type plays a very important part. Go back to the tutorial from yesterday if you need to review. This will be a graded project. If you complete one logo, then do another one. Or if there is any project that you missed due to being absent, you can work on it instead. Everyone should continue to work till the end of class.
