ART ONE LESSON FOR MONDAY, MARCH 28

As you know by now I won't be with you today because I am in an all day literacy meeting in Whiteville.  So I decided to post your lesson for today on my blog.  I have some links for you to view, read and study about 2 point perspective.  Remember, you have to finish your perspective test when I return.  These sites could help you prepare for your test.

This site shows you what happens when the VPs are close to the object or far away from it.

Look at all these one point perspective drawings and photographs.  Notice that you are looking directly into one wall of a building or a room.  Notice how all the parallel lines appear to meet at the VP.  Choose your favorite four pictures and tell me why you chose them.

This is a drawing of a three point perspective drawing of buildings.  We do not study three point perspective in Art One but I wanted you to see what one looked like.  Write how this drawing differs from a two point perspective drawing.

I promised you that we would start ceramics this week and we are going to; however, until I get back, I thought today would be a good chance for you to look at some contemporary ceramic artists' work.  Check out the sites below.

All these pieces are made of clay.  Choose your four favorite pieces and tell me why you chose those particular four.

This site has lots and lots of ceramic rattles.  We are going to make one.  In fact, it will most likely be your first ceramic project.  Choose your favorite four rattles and tell me why you chose them.

Finally, we will also be making a ceramic mask.  The above site is filled with masks created by one of my favorite ceramic artists, Peggy Bjerkan who is known as maskwoman.  Look through all of her masks and choose your favorite four and tell me why you chose them.
If you have any time left in class, do a search for other ceramic artists that you like.  Write down their name and web address.  I'll be interested to see who you find.

See you tomorrow,
Mr. Hewett

STRIPGENERATOR

Check out a wonderful new site called Stripgenerator.  Create awesome cartoons and amaze your students and friends with them.  Below is a sample I made reminding the faculty and staff of our Global Education meeting after school on Tuesday.
