What comes to mind when you think of Halloween ? (Be sure to click on the hyperlinked "Halloween" to read some relevant articles and see some interesting photos.) Possibly the following things: ghosts and gobblins, pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns, witches riding broomsticks, scary monsters and masks? What about graveyards and tombstones? Well today you're going to be working with one tombstone in particular. Click on the link below to get your directions for this assignment.

NCAEA CONFERENCE IN WINTSON-SALEM

I was delighted to attend the annual NCAEA Conference in Winston-Salem this weekend. It had been years since I had attended and it was good to see some old friends again. While there I did two presentations. The first one was about Global Education: Hiroshima Peace Park and Slave Castles of Ghana. The second presentation was Technology in the Classroom in which I talked about numerous websites and online tools that any teacher, not only art teachers, can use. Leaving my last presentation I was delighted to finally meet artist, author and illustrator of children books, Faith Ringgold. I had spoken to her years ago when my elementary school students had adopted her in our Adopt-A-Star program.

WEEKLY TEST

What a wonderful job you all did on yesterday's parody of American Gothic by Grant Wood. Because of the creativity you exhibited, today's test will be another parody. Today's painting is a self portrait by Vincent Vangogh after he had cut off part of his ear. There has to be something wrapped around the head of your person in your parody. If this painting doesn't suit your fancy, get with me and together we'll choose another. Take your time and good luck!
