PHOTOS FROM TURKEY DAY FOUR (part 3)
During our trip to Bursa we saw acres upon acres of olive trees. In fact, we were told that Turkey has approximately 18 million olive trees. In the picture, the olive trees are the ones that are the grayish green color. Bursa was a very nice town as you can see from the pictures. Our first stop was the Great Mosque which was built by Bayezid I after the Nicoplois victory. The interesting thing about this mosque compared to the others that we had seen was that it was decorated with Islamic calligraphy. I have no idea what the writing said but it certainly was beautifully done! We had not been at this mosque very long before all of us sensed that we were not as welcomed here as we had been in Istanbul. After our tour of the mosque we had time to go shopping at the Koza Han, home of the silk trade. We only spent one night in Bursa and then were on our way.
