PHOTOS FROM TURKEY DAY THREE (part 2)

Next we crossed the street to visit the Hippodrome, the former center of sportive and political activities of Constantinople. You'll be able to see the Obelisk from Egypt in the photograph. While walking to the Topkapi Palace we saw beautiful sights as well. The Topkapi Palace was the lavish home to the Ottoman Sultans. For centuries, this was the place from which the Sultans ruled over n empire that stretched from Eastern Europe to the Atlantic Ocean. It contains a priceless collection of jewelry, porcelain and costumes. Among the artifacts that I saw were a diamond about the size of an egg and a skull that supposedly belonged to St. John the Baptist. We ate lunch at a beautiful restaurant called the Konyali at the Palace that overlooked the Bosphorus.
