PHOTOS FROM TURKEY DAY THREE (part 3)
After leaving the Palace we were led to the underground cistern which was the work of Justinian. This is the most impressive of Istanbul's ancient cisterns with a roof supported by more than 300 columns. Thıs one room was saıd to have contaıned as much as one mıllıon cubıc lıters of water. It was a beautiful sight to behold and was very cool inside. Classical music played as we wondered down the walkways through the columns. Then finally we made our way to the Grand Bazaar whıch ıs a collectıon of over four thoıusand shops. Thıs has to be the ultımate of shoppıng malls!!! It is so large that the shops have maps and street addresses so that you can maneuver your way around. Sınce thıs was our last nıght ın Istanbul we all went out for dınner at a really nıce restaurant and ate out on the terrace wıth the Bosphorus ın the background. Whıle we ate there was lıve Turkısh classıcal musıc beıng played. One man even got up and danced a tradıtıonal Turkısh dance for us. Believe it or not, by the end of the evening it had turned to be rather chilly. Good thing that we wore our jackets!!!!!!!!!
