FINAL SPARC ARTISTS VISIT WCHS

Today we were delighted to have our last two SPARC grant artists visit WCHS and do a presentation for my Art I class. They are husband and wife team, Hanna and Jodi Hollnagel-Jobran. They are both artists, professors and owners of J&H Studio Inc. and are committed to quality public art projects, both nationally and internationally. Their work ranges from realistic to abstract adn in any material, but they prefer using high quality durable materials. They have monumental sculptures figurative and abstract in the following countries: Cuba, Argentina, Israel which is Hanna's home country, Lithuania, Latvia, Finland, Mexico, Canada, Germany and Denmark. As part of their presentation they both showed PowerPoint presentations of their own work. My students found this to be very interesting since they knew nothing about the casting process. They also took small samples of bronze casts which were surprisingly heavy.

All three of the final three artists will be returning back to WCHS to make their last presentation to our selection committee. Then we will make the decision as to who will be commissioned to do the piece of public art for WCHS. Who will it be? Keep checking back and find out. Then this blog will contain photos as the whole process progesses.

Larry
