FIRST DAY IN DENMARK

Well as promised here are the first of the pictures from Denmark. As you can see from the photos it was a very rainy day when we first arrived. And was it ever cold!!!!!!!!! It was raining so much that some of the photos don't show up too well because of the rain on the windows of the bus; however, we did manage to get out a few times. There was water everywhere. I learned that Denmark is composed of 400 islands, 300 of which are uninhabited. The very large modern looking building was the new Opera House (or at least I think it was!!!) You may not be able to tell it from the photograph but the roof on this one building was as large as two football fields. Across the water from the Opera House was a beautiful site with various buildings on the waterfront. From there we moved on downtown to the Palace. Even with rain and dark clouds it was still a beautiful experience. Can you tell how cold we were during this part of the tour? And the wind was blowing really hard as well which made things worse. We did manage to fight the elements enough to take a photograph of the little mermaid on the waterfront. This is a very well known sculpture in all of Denmark. And finally we all had to go to the train station to purchase our tickets for Tuesday's travels to our individual schools throughout all of the country. I loved the arch ceiling of this old building.
