FIELD TRIP TO BARTON COLLEGE

On January 29 eleven of my students and I took a field trip to Barton College in Wilson, NC to view the N.C. Scholastic Art Exhibit of which WCHS had won three gold keys and two silver. Upon arrival Mr. Mark Gordon, art instructor, took us on a tour of the exhibit itself and then the whole art department. The total number of NC entries from Winston-Salem to the coast total 1900. Out of these was chosen 200 to be exhibited. Morgan won a gold with her pencil drawing and Cheyenne won a gold with her sculpture. They both also won silver keys as well. Adam also won a gold key with his mixed media. Now the three gold key winners will go on later this year to be judged for the National Scholastic Art Exhibit in NYC. So far WCHS has had a total of four national winners and I have had the pleasure of escorting them and their families to NY where they picked up their medals and had the opportunity to walk across the stage at Carnegie Hall during the gala awards ceremony. Good luck to the three and to all other WCHS who participated.
